About Me
Hi there! I’m Mike “Monark” Williams, a wedding cinematographer with over 10 years of experience capturing the essence of love stories. Scroll down to learn more about me.
My Journey
Born in Lagos, Nigeria, I moved to New Jersey when I was just five years old. Since then, my journey has taken me across the United States, from Rhode Island to Hawaii, working with iconic artists like Doug E. Fresh and DMC, and on commercial projects for brands like Avis Budget Group.
How It All Started
My foray into wedding cinematography began unexpectedly. A friend asked me to film their wedding in West Virginia, and despite my initial fear of live events, I decided to give it a shot. Up until then, my experience had been in short-form commercials and music videos. I used to think wedding videos were static and dull, but discovering the potential for creativity in wedding videography changed everything for me.
My Approach
I blend a documentary and candid style with my background in music production and music videos, bringing a unique perspective to every wedding I film. My aim is to capture you and your partner as you truly are, focusing on genuine moments rather than overly posed shots. Every couple has a story, and I see it as my mission to tell yours in a way that turns complete strangers into fans of your love.
When we work together, you’ll find me to be friendly and approachable, always striving to build a connection that lets your personality shine through. I believe that your wedding film should be a beautiful reflection of your relationship, filled with moments that you’ll cherish forever.
